My flat (Моя квартира, topic 3)
We have a very nice flat rather far from the centre of the city. It is in a many-storeyed house. As there are so many storeys in the building it has two lifts. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences such as gas, electricity, running water, central heating and a chute to carry the rubbish down. There are three rooms in it: a sitting-room, a study and a bedroom. And we also have a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall. Our kitchen is large, but unfortunately the corridor is rather small. Our sitting-room is used as a living-room. It is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. We meet our guests here. In the middle of the room you can see a round table covered with a white cloth. There are six chairs round it. There is a hanging lamp above the table. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. At the opposite wall there is a piano with a piano stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Our TV set is of the latest model. In the evening our family gather in the sitting-room to watch TV. As for me, I like different thrillers and action films. A small square table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This table is for newspapers and magazines. I like to read very much. The walls of the living-room are light-green and there are water-colours on them. The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds with a bedside-table between them. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror. There are different combs, because I like to brush my hair here. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to hang clothes on. There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain brown curtains on the window. In the study there is not much furniture, only the most necessary pieces. It has a wall mounted desk with drawers. I keep pens, pencils, paper, exercise-books and a few dictionaries here. To my mind, it's very convenient to work in this room. I like my flat very much. | |
