My Town Novokuibyshevsk (моє місто Новокуйбишевськ)
I live in a small town which is called Novokuibyshevsk. This town is rather young. It was founded in 1952. Novokuibyshevsk is situated not far from the river Volga and the city Samara. Its population is more than 100,000 people. My native town is an industrial centre. There are many plants, factories and enterprises in it, such as oil Refinery, Chemical plants, Textile factory. Most of the citizens work at the big industrial enterprises. Novokuibyshevsk can also be called the town of science because there are many research institutes in it. So the problem of environmental protection is very important for the town I live in. There are many beautiful wide streets and some squares in our town. The main streets of Novokuibyshevsk are Pobeda Avenue, Mironov Street and Dzerzhinsky Street. In Mironov Street there is a memorial plaque on which we can read: Mironov Ivan Ignatyevich, the founder of Novokuibyshevsk. In our town there is a (memorial) monument to Red Army Soldiers: Kadomtsev and his comrades. Besides you can find many shops and supermarkets in the main streets. Nowadays a lot of modern supermarkets are opening in our streets every day. Among them we can see some IT supermarkets, for example "Pragma”, supermarkets for domestic goods, for instance, "Satellite” and "Eldorado” and a lot of cell phone supermarkets such as "Euroset”, "Delta-S”, "Svyazar” and ”Betalink”. The main square in our town is Lenin Square. It is a large and beautiful square with buildings of different architecture around it, a fountain and a few flowerbeds in the middle of the square. There are trees in all the streets of our town. They together with the two parks make the town look like a garden. Many tourists from other cities of Russia and from abroad visit our town. And they usually stay at "Vesta” hotel. This hotel is a four-star-hotel with very good service and comfortable accommodation. Near "Vesta” hotel there is a sport centre which is called "Oktan” and which is famous all over Russia, because a lot of national sport competitions take place in this sports centre. Among our citizens there are a lot of famous sportsmen who are well-known all over the world. Saitov is one of them. He was born in Novokuibyshevsk, though now he doesn’t live in this city. If you want to go sightseeing around the city you are to begin with Lenin square, where you can visit our beautiful House of Culture and then two cinemas, a History museum, some secondary schools, music schools and an art museum. There are swimming-pools and a stadium in our town. There are many new districts in our town with modem multistoreyed buildings. I like my native town. Welcome to our town. | |
